This topic came up on the other forum-Adult Incon on Yahoo-and it has been real quiet here so I thought I'd carry it over.

For those wearing cloth diapers, have you tried a diaper service (if they are available in your area) and what are your thoughts about convenience and cost compared to home laundering of your diapers.

With all the snow you got out there Joe how would a diaper service every make a delivery? LOL! My diaper service is UPS which only does half the job. I gotta haul them out. I still cannot bring myself to cloth. I'd like to try but I just get the feeling it would be wasted money for me.

During the past year, because of some washer problems, I checked with the local diaper service (which we had even used with both our kids). I was informed that they don't do adult diapers, even if I supplied the diapers themselves. I was a bit surprised, but that was that.

A couple of years ago I checked with our local Tidy Diaper Company. They offered an adult all in one diaper. I think it was the Priva brand. You bought them and then they charged about $1.25 per wash. It was not worth the cost. They don't offer the service any more--I think they are worried their base business would be concerned about adult infectious disease. Sign of the times-up until 8-10 years ago there were three diaper service companies in town. Now there is only one and they even sell disposables.

I can't find one in my neck of the woods, and I'm not really sure I would try one. I like having control on what type cloth diaper I wear along with my plastic pants.
Also, good to see Steve M. post on this subject. Let's hear more from you! ............Paul Martin

I used a diaper service when I lived near Charlottesville. I provided the diapers and they laundered the diapers for about $.25 a diaper. They had a drop off bin outside their business where I could leave the soiled diapers if they were closed and I would pick up the clean ones. I prefered transporting the diapers myself, because I did not want to advertise my incontinence to my neighbors. Unfortunately I moved too far away for work and have not been able to find a similar arrangement close to where I live now. This was a very positive experience because the diapers were very clean, soft, and treated to prevent odor. They provided the waterproof pail liners and a diaper pail with deordorizer tablets.
