Ok so someone mentioned in the "heaviest diaper" thread that the molicare super plus was being phased out in the plastic backed version.

I've been using the molicare super+ for 2+ years and I credit them and them alone with giving me the confidence to leave the house. It's the diaper that made my incontinence a non-issue, and not to mention, they were more comfortable that any other diaper I've worn. Any eta on when this will be discontinued? All other diapers I've worn at night has been unconfortable. The fact that the plastic stretches makes it comfortable to wear.

I hate cloth I backed diapers, they feel cold and clammy when wet, they can't hold odor in, and if I'm not wearing a bodystocking they feel like sandpaper against my legs.

I'm going to find a contact email, would anyone consider emailing them and telling them to not discontinue their product?

I share your dislike of most cloth diapers. The breathable Super Seni Quatro distributed by XPMed is the only exception. You can find a forum here where we discuss it so I will not repeat that here.

Stock up on your favorite plastic-backed diapers where and when you can. The Tena Slip Maxi with the plastic shell also is being discontinued. I wear the Tenas with dress slacks and athletic attire so I have stockpiled two cases from Gary at XP Medical.

A good alternative for the Molicare is the plastic-shell ComfiDry 24/7, also available from XPMed.

I expect that our emails will have little effect on the manufacturers' decisions to change to cloth backing. That is a business decision driven primarily by the millions of diapers sold to institutions such as hospitals and nursing homes who are concerned about diaper rash among the very elderly.

JD, mind if I ask what your waist size is?

I think you said before you use the seni in a large. I ordered a pack in large as well and felt they were too big. My waist size is about a 39. The tapes on the seni went so far around that I fastened them on the edge of the part of the diaper that has the absorbent material beneath it, instead of the side panels. Because of this, I feel like I didn't get a good fit.

I normally wear the molicare super + in a large. Even though the medium fits me, I feel it's too far below my hips, and as a result there isn't enough "open volume" to catch urine in the crotch area if I'm sitting, and after the first wetting it will leak over the top.

Funny you mentioned the Dry 24/7, as that's the primary diaper I'll wear at work. I wear that in a medium, and even though the waistband is slightly lower than I'd prefer, I feel like this is a perfect fit

Unfortunately, as far as all other diapers go, I'm in between sizes. So I wanted to see what size seni other people wear that have a waist size similar to me. I tried the teni maxi btw, same problem, in between sizes and I felt the tapes were too small and close to each other to get a good fit.


On a random note, I'm kind of confused as to who makes molicare, is it Medline or Hartmann?

I've had such little experience with cloth backed, but when I first started experiencing incontinence I used the pull up from abena, and after just one wetting, where I DIDN'T leak, I could smell the aroma easily.

One of the reasons I have found the molicare so dependable is that the quality control is second to none. I don't think I've ever gotten a bad lot that's had pin holes. Sometimes the tap height varies a little, and once in a blue moon the tape breaks when I'm putting it on, but other than that they've just been dependable. And I don't think there is another diaper that can wick as good as the molicare, they usually don't leak until 80%+ is used at a minimum.

Sorry for the long rant, but I just don't understand why this is being discontinued, this is such a major stressor on me now

I actually am still on the fence between preferring cloth back vs poly back.. either works for me, as long as i am well covered as far as noise goes... I guess for me, since i dont use molicare super plus this doesnt affect me, but as an incotnientn individual, i know what its like to have a product that you really like and suddenly its not available anymore.. like what happened with Tena Ultra and J and B medical.. I guess Molicare in cloth back woudnt be so bad in my opinion IF it had hook and loop tabs.. not sticky tabs which are totally useless on cloth back.. all for now.. gotta get ready for daily Mass!

Molicare Super Plus is made by Paul Hartmann Germany with Medline as exclusive distributor in USA. Hartmann USA does not sell this item as Medline gets it direct from Germany. The rest of the Molicare briefs like Soft premium cloth-like briefs are distributed through Hartmann USA. Some of Hartmann USA's products are made in Germany and some are made in USA.

I stocked up massively on the Molicare Super plus and have enough for almost a years consumption, simply due to a faint hope that Hartmann will alter their decision and go back to the plastic backed version again after a period.
The Molicare Super Plus is the most reliable diaper I have worn yet, and can easily last an entire day at work.
The odor control and wicking capability in the Molicares is second to none..and basically it's the only diaper I feel confident in.

The Tena Maxis are more discrete but their wicking capability is not as good, and usually I find that when I need to change, half of the diaper hasn't been utilized.

Ski, I am able to wear Seni Quatro, Dry 24/7, Tena Slip Maxi all in size Large. I have a 41" waist and weigh 200 lbs.

I doubt that Hartmann will reverse their decision as the largest purchasers of adult diapers are institutions for the elderly. They are more concerned about preventing rashes than preventing leaks.

Just curious if either of you ever tried the Wellness Superio brief, or Gary's Absorbency Plus level 4 from XP Medical. I have tried both, and have found both to be excellent for my uses.. Granted, I am not nighttime incontinent.. but i just thought id suggest it. The A+ level 4 does not have leakguards.. but I have seen reviews that despite this.. some individuals have used them with success overnight. I can attest personally to their INCREDIBLE absorbency.. and comfort. When i alternated between confidry and a+ level 4, I could say without a doubt the a+ level 4 felt more comfortable. And I will say that this diaper does an excellent job at wicking.. while not sacrificing in absorbency. Gary really did his homework in desiging this diaper. The only issue i had with the latest bag i used was the tapes.. which might have been a once in a blue moon manufacturing fluke..

I encourage you to give them a try, you might be impressed! Hope this helps!

Oh and by the way, Absorbency plus DOES have a size regular now, so if you are "in between" sizes, you might find the regular to be useful.

Good News!

I asked XP Medical if they had heard anything and this is what I got back:

"We have spoken with Medline/Molicare and they told us that the Super Plus will not be changed this calendar year, and that any changes will be reconsidered at the beginning of 2016."

So they say that they won't reconsider changes until 2016, which could even mean that there won't be any actual changes until 2017.

Not sure if this was a result of the company getting a lot of complaints or they simply realized that they were making enough profit as is to maintain the status quo.

Either way, this is a minor victory for now and has eliminated some of my anxiety.

Phew what a relief as I moved from Attends to Molicare Super Plus and could not be happier.

I agree after wearing for a great deal of time Molicare Supe Plus live up to their reputation.

I know that the colour puts some off however not me in fact I love the colour as white can stand out.
